Variety: Pinot Noir

This special Pinot Noir was harvested as a selected late harvest (Auslese) and vinified dry. It was then aged for two years in new barrique barrels (French oak with light toasting).

The Pinot “Ritter” is a true charmer—refined and powerful on the palate, a knightly wine without fear or reproach. Its high alcohol and extract levels promise great aging potential. Let yourself be gracefully enchanted by this noble “knight.”

Tasting notes: Deep, dark ruby red; a dense bouquet with classic Burgundy aromas and multifaceted nuances. Dark berries, fine oak, and spice come together on the palate in a velvety, full-bodied finish. Profound, powerful, and complex—ideal for savoring at leisure.

Best served with: garlic lamb chop, roast veal in milk with pasta, larded roast venison, venison medallions, wild boar goulash with chanterelle, Burgundy roast, stewed lamb leg.

  • Vinyard Umriss

The highest elevation of the Grossriede “Umriss” is planted with our Burgundies. The limestone and shell limestone soils create perfect conditions for great,  wines.

  • Aging potential

strong Pinots have always had their place with us. Wonderful for long storage and bottle aging, which only show their full potential over the decades.

  • Pinot Gris white but different

Orange Pinot Gris Ried Kreften was fermentated on the mash (whole berries). Due to the contact with the grape skin, the wines get a more intense color and more tannin.

  • Harvest 2018

Harvest 2018 of Pinot Noir Ritter

Only every few years is it possible to vinify a Pinot Noir with this high degree of maturity and full ripen, healthy grape material.
