If the interaction between nature and humankind is successful, a special taste experience may develop in the barrels and we are pleased with a new vintage of “Ruster Ausbruch”.

Harvesting the Ruster Ausbruch

The composition of varieties and quantity in one Ausbruch harvest may vary widely.
The year 2015 brought us fully ripened and healthy grapes and we were happy about the equal Botrytis at the vineyards of Welschriesling, Riesling and Pinot Gris. This was one of the largest Botrytis harvests in that decade. A very good vintage was the result.

Traminer fragrances

The Traminer has a wide range of aromas and therefore goes perfectly with Indian curries, Asian dishes and Thai wok dishes. Due to its residual sugar, it is the perfect counterpoint to the spiciness of the chili.

Rust and the starlings

With its wide reed areas, Lake Neusiedl offers a gathering place for thousands upon thousands of starlings that are passing through on their way from Central Europe to their winter residence in Africa. From the end of August until October, the starlings build constantly growing swarms and regard the vineyards around the lake as their buffet where they can strengthen themselves before their long journey across the Mediterranean Sea.
